Qualify the business problem before proposing a call
A new freelancer seeking their first clients and an established consultancy hiring a sales team may use the same phrase: “I need more sales.” Your setter needs to clarify the situation before sending either person to the same offer.
Define the stage your programme serves, the problem it addresses, prerequisites and exclusions. If you support multiple offers, specify how to route between them and when to ask a human.
Questions that reveal useful context
| Area | Question to adapt | Decision supported |
|---|---|---|
| Business | What do you sell, and who usually buys it? | Offer and audience fit. |
| Bottleneck | Where is the process getting stuck? | Whether the programme addresses the actual problem. |
| Current approach | What have you already tried? | Avoiding repeated or irrelevant advice. |
| Implementation | Who would put the changes into practice? | Capacity and stakeholder involvement. |
| Timing | Is there a particular reason you want to work on this now? | Urgency without manufactured pressure. |
| Investment | Have you reviewed the programme format and price? | Shared expectations before a call. |
Give accurate answers about results and price
An AI setter should never promise a revenue target, invent a case study or offer a discount that is not in your terms. Put the approved price, payment options, programme scope and cancellation information in the knowledge you provide.
If a lead asks for a guarantee you do not offer, say so clearly. Escalate requests for negotiated terms, bespoke consulting scope or an answer that depends on financial or legal advice.
Make the handoff useful to the closer
The conversation should establish the problem, fit and remaining questions before the next step. Review the thread before a sales call so the prospect does not need to repeat the same answers.
Measure confirmed bookings separately from link sends, and attended qualified calls separately from total bookings. Review unsuitable appointments as carefully as missed opportunities. Wagent can support the conversation and booking attribution; your team still owns the consultation and sale.
